Imhotep! Welcome to B.L.A.C.K.

B.L.A.C.K. is an Afrocentric homeschooling community dedicated to increasing black awareness, cultural expression, and self pride in the homeschooling community. We offer classes in African American history, art, and literature for homeschoolers in the Washington, D.C. area based on the African Centered Educational model. We facilitate hands-on training by nationally recognized education specialists and disseminate information via the B.L.A.C.K. blog on how to infuse African culture and history in the traditional American education. Our mission is to increase awareness of the African Centered Educational model and to share the positive results we are witnessing in B.L.A.C.K. students who are reconnecting with the truth, beauty, and grace of the African heritage and culture.

Kamali Academy
Kamali Academy is an African-centered homeschool collective in New Orleans, Louisiana, which is doing phenomenal work in educating young black children from an African center, as well as African-centered curricula development. It was founded by Dr. Samori Camara, a young, fiery, pioneering,  Black American, whose philosophy, books, videos, and curricula on African Centered Education continue to gain momentum and national attention among educators. The Kamali Academy is a great resource for homeschoolers, particularly those wanting to adopt the African-centered educational model or to infuse African history and culture into their homeschool.

Dr.Camara's detailed K-12 Curriculum, which he has titled, "Cultivating Warriors: An Afrikan-Centered Curriculum" is a powerful tool in Kamali Academy's resource chest. It is the heart and soul of the Kamali Academy philosophy of educating young Black children for liberation.

In addition to an easy to follow, yet highly effective, African-centered Grammar Workbook for Middle Grades, Kamali Academy also offers on-line courses in Mental Math, Afrikan Literature, and more. While some may view the Kamali Academy Grammar Workbook as less comprehensive than other more detailed, traditional grammar texts, the workbook is brilliantly designed to teach grammar basics, hidden black history facts, and self awareness all at the same time!

"50 Afrikans You Should Know", a reading comprehension book designed to increase comprehension skills and knowledge about great African and African Americans, is hot off the press with shipping to begin in April.  You can preview and pre-order the book here at the Kamali Academy website.
