B.L.A.C.K. is an Afrocentric homeschooling community dedicated to increasing black awareness, cultural expression, and self pride in the homeschooling community. We offer classes in African American history, art, and literature for homeschoolers in the Washington, D.C. area based on the African Centered Educational model. We facilitate hands-on training by nationally recognized education specialists and disseminate information via the B.L.A.C.K. blog on how to infuse African culture and history in the traditional American education. Our mission is to increase awareness of the African Centered Educational model and to share the positive results we are witnessing in B.L.A.C.K. students who are reconnecting with the truth, beauty, and grace of the African heritage and culture.
Anthony Browder is a contemporary black historian, author, and publisher of several major works including: "From the Browder File - 22 Essays on the African American Experience" and Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization. He co-authored two books with his young daughter, Atlantis, titled My first trip to Africa and Africa On My Mind, which are easy readers for younger children based on Atlantis' travels to Africa with her father when she was a young girl. Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization is a detailed work on the ancient history of the Nile Valley. It is a significant work in that it explodes the Eurocentric myths about the ancient Egyptian civilization and uncovers much hidden information. Anthony Browder organizes African-centered Tours of Washington DC, which exposes the Nile Valley contributions to historic landmarks such as the Washington Monument, The White House, The Lincoln Memorial, The Library of Congress, The Capitol, Lafayette Park, Scottish Rite Temple, Meridian Hill Park and L'Enfant Plaza. Nile Valley Contributions to Civilizations is a must read for all seeking to learn the truth about Black history. It is used as a primary source in the B.L.A.C.K. African American history classes for high schoolers.
